SC03 Super 24 in 1 Multicart (J.Y.)

Greetings, everyone! This is my first post on this blog. I'm quite excited as I'll be (hopefully, possibly, or maybe) posting to this blog semi-frequently about cool future collection updates, archival, or ramblings.

I'm assuming many people visiting this blog will have a general mental-summary of who I am. If you don't know me, however; hi, I'm Blingflinklemacine, mostly known as Bling. I've been collecting bootlegs and a part of the online bootleg game-sphere for quite a while now: You may find me in Discord server(s) and I'm also fairly active on the BootlegGames Wiki. I'm also a programmer and toy collector, but you wont see any of that here... Just bootleg games! Most of what you will see here is Famicom-oriented bootlegs and bootleg Famicom (hardware enhanced) Plug 'n Plays, but I'm not limited to these mediums, and I may branch out to different systems from time-to-time. I'm always interested in looking at new stuff that grabs my attention.

With all of that out of the way now:

I purchased a very captivating multicart from EBay on September 19th, which if you couldn't tell was right before the recent Canada Post labour strike and right after Charlie Kirk was assassinated (oh my god, he died?).     What a month. Though, considering it's now nearly 2 months later since then, I personally think its pretty easy to tell. Of course, the cart arrived with a big Canada Post sticker on it, just to really rub it in. lol.

Now, you may be wondering why I even chose to get this multicart, and I got it because of the game list which consists of a large amount of fighting games, 5 of which being Hummer Team-developed, and the other 3 being developers I don't like (my deepest sorrow, lol). Here's the full game list, but I'll also be going over the full game list-minus pirated official games individually.

This multicart is also already dumped, and apparently has been for quite a while now (which I didn't know until mid-writing this article). However, it was dumped by Mr. Whoever-dumped-it so long ago that it has a UNIF ROM header. No matter how much info about this geezer header you throw at me, I'm simply unable to understand what iNES 2.0 mapper it translates to, and thus I'm just going to assume throughout writing this article that it's one of JY's proprietary mappers, especially considering this game is over 4 MB in ROM size... Taiwanese developers are wild, man...

Because i can't open the cartridge, i wont be opening the cartridge, but I'll definitely be uploading photos of the board once i'm able to. Judging from the cart weight, it's more likely than not pure blob ICs.

Yuu Yuu (Hakusho Final)

A Hummer fighter I do like a lot. It's fairly rushed and kind of strange but I think the music is good and the game obviously plays well. The game is called "YuuYuu 5" on the menu but doesn't say anything about a number on the title screen.

As far as I'm aware, this is basically the exact same as the Chinese Ka Sheng release minus the Ka Sheng title screen copyright and the story in the story mode, which makes it quite redundant considering you have the "CONTEST TO UNITE THE DEMON REALM" mode... lol.

The King of Fighters '99

BREAK A SPINER...

A Rex Soft fighter. Not a very good one and possibly their most offensive in my opinion.

The King of Fighters '99 is a hack of " '97 with the obvious (and clearly low-effort) title screen change. While the intro to the game is actually pretty cool, and the music is fin\e, the gameplay is just atrocious.

Have you ever wanted to play a fighting game with 0 sound effects and crazy screen shaking in conjunction with slow walk speeds and The Panda Prince jumps? No? Well, me neither, but it was included on this cartridge, and as a boastful first game in the lineup.

As you can tell, this game is not good, and I really don't like it, it's bad for all the reasons stated in the paragraph before, and beyond my NOAC famiclone, it's a buggy shitshow with an absolute laughing-stock of a fighting engine. It's not good to play, and it's not worth playing considering the game forgets which fighters you've fought, and thus is completely endless, and pointless, so that's fun. Even if this wasn't the case for this muticart's ROM, I would never know: I've only ever bothered beating 2 fighters maximum.

You don't usually find me being this critical in regards to a bootleg game, but for a game like this and this bad, there's no excuse, especially not from a Taiwanese developer.

Garou Densetsu Special

As far as I'm aware the game here is just the standard ROM. The game itself has a good OST and some nicely illustrated backgrounds.

Not too much else I can say considering it's just the regular game which works completely fine here. It's a good hummer team fighter

and also a pretty early one.

Tekken 2

Now, this is a strange one. For quite a while now I've been aware of a "Tekken 3" ROM online, which is a standard mapper 4 hack of Tekken 2 by Hummer Team featuring the removal of the CHR ROM-heavy fighter victory screens which are simply replaced with a "WIN" screen, as well as the removal of the J.Y. Company logo tiles. Any other cut-downings made aren't obvious enough to me for me to look into...

This version appears to be the exact same though with the exception of the lack of a hideous 3 mashed into the title, and the (presumed) mapper differences... As far as I'm aware, The game will crash at random points on real hardware and I have to blame my NOAC famiclone as I was able to get pretty far in the game on FCEUX with no issues.

I like this game. :)

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers... 5?

Despite being numbered as the 5th in the multicart menu, the actual title screen shows a roman III... Huh. Speaking of the title screen, it has an absolute fucking aneurysm on both real-hardware and FCEUX, so I suppose it's just how it's meant to be then. I don't know why the title screen spazzes out like it does. As far as I'm aware the original mapper was a J.Y. mapper as well, so I don't know what the cause is at all...

The game itself is actually not too great, despite being a port of Mighty Morphine Powder Strangers (the joke is it's wrong) for the SNES, the game is a weird boss-rush sort-of deal using the Hummer Team fighting engine as opposed to a side-scrolling beat-em-up (WHICH HUMMER TEAM ENDED UP MAKING AN ENGINE FOR ANYWAYS, SEE FINAL FIGHT 3)... It's not very good at being a "port" and it's a fighter that I simply have little interest in. For a Hummer Team game, it's also very bland in my opinion.

Wu Shi Hun

Titled "Samurai 3" in the multicart menu, it's another Rex Soft game! It's better than KOF '99 but it still hurts. its like going from getting hit in the head with a bright, neon yellow baseball to a regular red and white one, sure, the new one looks objectively better, but they both still hurt and suck to deal with.. I really do not like Rex Soft...

Dragon Ball Z - Super Butoden III

"Aaaaaah look at all the lonely people"

Hack of " Butoden 2. I don't think it changes much besides the title screen and how Goku stares you down, grinning ear-to-ear in the mode select... You have a very wide variety of different fighter sizes which is pretty cool to see (though annoying if you're short).  The music is very good though because I've never watched Dragon Ball Z I have basically no clue who most of the characters are nor what the story is, if it matters to this game :/

Street Fighter V 60 Turbo

Cony fighter. For some reason the title screen has pixels knocked out of it and on my hardware the player 1 cursor is all goofed up. This is not the case in an emulator.

The game plays okay like all Cony fighters and while I don't really have any liking towards Cony fighters, I'd prefer them any day over a Rex Soft one, as I can actually play a Cony fighter without everything flying by so fast it's a "if you blink you miss it" type of deal.

Very large roster, as the name suggests, though I have no idea what this one's actually meant to be called as the V, 60, and Turbo are all bunched up together like they're trying to stay warm in a Canadian winter. " V 60 Turbo it is!

Rockman 7

Hack of Rockman 6 with health restoration button combos. As of right now, the hacker is unknown, though I wouldn't be surprised if it was J.Y.'s doing as I know they love their secret codes, and to nourish the blood.

It's Rockman. negative one million/10 because Rex Soft didn't develop it entirely from scratch >:/ Gaaaaaaaagh

Brush Rolle

I do appreciate J.Y. not using the hard R, us rolle(r)s deserve better than offensive language like that. I also appreciate this game being included at all because I think it's a fairly good (and surprisingly arcade-accurate) Hwang Shinwei arcade port. Lots of impressive NROM stuff from Hwang Shinwei, Brush Roller is no exception.

Anyways, that about wraps it up in terms of the interesting games. Overall, this is a multicart I'm very happy to have just because of how large and mostly-pretty good the game selection is. As I said near the beginning, I'll be getting board photos once I'm able to open the shell up.

I'd hope you consider following my blog or at minimum checking my new posts out whenever you hear about them. You're time and reading is a way of indirectly supporting me because of advertisements on the blog you're reading this from. I actively try to make ads as out-of-your-way as possible, though obviously I still need to have them on my page. Your support and ad the adsense money I make from here largely goes towards my bootleg collecting, which most importantly brings even more documentation here for other collectors to read. I have some super awesome things coming soon (such as more hummer team and some waixing, :0), so I hope you stick by!

I plan to over time transition into more serious reviews and archival of Famicom games, handhelds, and Plug 'n Plays moving forward. This post was mostly just some silly goofy bullshit and a "quick" gloss over a multicart, to kind of test the waters per-say (rather than immediately diving into serious product overviews. If you have any suggestions/feedback, feel free to let me know: I should have my comments open under every blog post.

Thanks for reading, you can finally put your eyes to rest!
